Please don't ask Stephen Colbert and Lupita Nyong'o to take a selfie with you in a public bathroom

Stephen Colbert and Lupita Nyong’o know that bathroom selfies are always bad. That’s why Colbert didn’t cut Nyong’o off when she began telling a story about a fan who decided the best time to get a picture with her is when she came out of the “John.”

“At one point, I went to the bathroom while the movie was going
on. Another lady came out of the stall to wash her hands and I
emerged from my stall and she nearly had a heart attack and I
knew it wasn’t because she was star struck. She was mortified to
see me there. ‘I just didn’t expect to see you there.’ I felt so bad
for her I calmed her down. And she was like,
‘Can I have a selfie?’" Nyong'o told Colbert.

Colbert then followed that up with this question, “Wait, she asked
for a selfie in the bathroom?"

    “In the bathroom,” Nyong'o responded.

“That’s scary...Some people forget that a bathroom is a place
where you shouldn’t be doing that," Colbert said.

Colbert is right. The bathroom is not the place to be taking pictures. Heck, it’s not even the place to open up your mouth to start having a conversation with folks. Folks have just done their business. And all of the fumes from their business is permeating the air. Nobody needs to be opening up their mouths breathing all of that in. That’s just nasty.

But, there are just nasty folks out there who aren’t thinking about the fact that whenever they take a selfie with somebody who’s just came out of the John they are asking that person to place his/her non-wash number one and number two hands on their shoulders or arms.

Nyong’o says that it’s so bad to the point that folks have knocked on the stall door, while she’s doing her business, to ask if she wants to take a selfie with them.

Colbert says the same has happened to him and that folks tend to follow him to the bathroom where they will drum up a conversation while his bowls are trying to move.

Colbert told Nyong'o about his fume loving fans, “I had to say, ‘I’m going in here alone.’”

Some folks just have to have that selfie.
